Institute of Technology and Engineering (ITE)
The Institute of Technology and Engineering (ITE) is a multidisciplinary institute with world-class expertise, state-of-the-art laboratories and leading manufacturing technologies. It aims to develop innovative research devices, instruments and equipment in the form of unique products and demonstration facilities. These push the boundaries of current technologies and create solutions for which there are no commercial alternatives, or which are not available on the market. This will open up new possibilities and enable new discoveries and breakthroughs in science.
The ITE’s focus spans disciplinary and technological boundaries and makes a significant contribution to interdisciplinary projects covering fields on mechanical engineering, automation, electronics and artificial intelligence. Beside the expertise on ultra-low temperature technology, ultra-high vacuum technology, high temperature applications, mechatronics, miniaturisation the development and implementation of advanced instrumentation, ITE has a special focus on joining technologies. Especially joining of different kind and novel innovative of materials is a special expertise.
For more than twenty years ITE is working in developing of sealant materials for SOC and ceramic membranes, specialised in glass-ceramic materials for high temperature sealants. Furthermore, ITE is working stack design, stack manufacturing and assembly. Additionally, the post-test analysis of stacks and reactors round out the expertise.
In the PHOENIX Project, the ITE has the responsibility for the development of the new stack design especially for electrolysis and its transfer to the industry. In this context, a new glass-ceramic sealant material will be developed, profound FEM-based modelling will enhance the stack development, leading to a stack design, suitable for mass production and technology transfer.
In close collaboration with national and international partners from academia and industry, ITE aim to act as a catalyst for research, facilitating the advancement of scientific knowledge and the transition from groundbreaking ideas to useful applications.
